Non-profitKentucky Center for Economic Policy
Policy for Our People
What We Delivered
Smashing Barriers With Facts
The Kentucky Center for Economic Policy makes policy decisions accessible to all Kentuckians. They break down complex economic issues and produce credible research to help people understand why they matter.
The Problem
Oldie, Not a Goodie
The independent, nonpartisan organization approached P&P because their existing brand didn’t accurately represent who they were. Even the acronym, KCEP, didn’t speak to their work of building clarity. The website didn’t lead users to the information they needed and was outdated, much like their logo.
The Inspiration
Facts with Benefits
The Kentucky Center for Economic Policy produces serious, impactful content. Their purpose is to give clarity. The content itself is what makes the organization bold, and that is what inspired P&P.
Strategy & Tactics
Simplify to Amplify
KCEP was changed to KyPolicy so people can immediately know who they are.
The messaging was reworked to connect with everyday people as well as policy-makers.
P&P leaned into the idea of a logo that felt more editorial in design– bold, traditional and serious– to reflect the organization’s purpose.
Colors were pulled from the state flag to avoid partisan themes and represent how KyPolicy works for all Kentuckians.
The website is a place people come to read. It is content heavy. White space and font choices were important.
A robust category and tagging system organized the extensive collection of content in a way that can be easily sorted and searched.
“Working with P&P is always satisfying because the products are stellar, the communication strong and the timeline is clear. They are good listeners. They built a brand and website that speaks to our unique role as a policy think tank.”
